I cofounded, bootstrapped and was CEO at Val-u, an edtech in the K12 vertical that serves +6.000 students in +30 schools in Venezuela and Mexico, with +USD 150K in ARR. I have +10 years of experience in education, finance and banking with a strong interest in everything finance and investing related.
I've been investing in stocks for since 2011, in real estate since 2019 and in startups as angel investor since 2024. I also trade index options with volatility strategies frequently.
Beyond finance, I have expertise in: product, culture, company building, operations and everything K12 related. I think I'm really good at being CEO (at the scale I have had the opportunity to operate), including capital allocation, business development and company building.
I'm learning tech (I developed this simple website). I'm also an amateur bodybuilder who loves pizza.
Thesis
1. Founding team
I invest in people and markets. Top quality founders are more important than everything else for me. cofounder is too little, 4 are too much, generally speaking for me. I would like to see at least 1 technical cofounder.
2. Business model
I prefer startups, but I'm open to see all kinds of companies: brick and mortar, e-commerce, agencies, YouTube Channels, etc.
3. Industry
Agnostic, but with preference for SaaS, fintech, proptech and consumer. I prefer B2B over B2C. I try to stay away from things I don't understand so much such as healthtech or deeptech. I can invest and provide value on edtech, but since most of my networth is there I'm trying to diversify.
2. Geographical Focus
Agnostic. I understand better the US and Latin America markets.
3. Stage
Pre-seed and Seed.
5. Check Size
USD 1K to 2.5K.
6. What can you expect from me beyond the check?
As a founder, if I invest in you, you should ask for more angels intros automatically, and I will try to help with that. Beyond that, I can be as laid back or as hands on as you want to. You are the founder and you know best what I can help you with.
